Former Director of FAI General Insurance Company Limited, Mr Daniel Wilkie, has been found not guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court of New South Wales on three criminal charges arising from an Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) investigation into the affairs of the HIH group of companies.
This was the second set of charges on which Wilkie was acquitted (see The Australian).
Wilkie successfully sued GIO Insurance Limited to force it to pay his legal costs in advance of defending criminal charges arising from his employment at FAI. (High Court decision discussed here).
ASIC has issued a release listing the convictions to date from FAI prosecutions.
