Although the Henry Review will not deal with the rate and base of the GST, the Board of Taxation is separately looking at the legal framework for the administration of the GST.
The Board has released an issues paper.
The focus of the review will be on:
- Streamlining and improving the operation of the GST;
- Reducing compliance costs; and
- Removing anomalies.
The Board has been asked to provide a final report to the Government by the end of December 2008.
