The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner has announced that it was notified in June 2014 by Catch of the Day about a data breach that occurred in 2011.
Catch of the Day is a popular online shopping site.
The scope of the breach and why Catch of the Day waited over 3 years to make the notification is not clear.
According to the OAIC in 2013–14 it received 71 data breach notifications, a 16% increase on the previous year.

The Privacy Amendment (Privacy Alerts) Bill 2014 has been introduced as a Private Bill into the Senate by Labor Senator Singh.
