Online gambling credit restrictions passed

The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Credit and Other Measures) Bill 2023 has been passed by both Houses of Parliament and is awaiting Royal Assent.

UPDATE: Royal Assent given on 11 December 2023.

It prohibits the use of credit cards, credit-related products and digital currency as payment methods for interactive wagering services

To give financial institutions time to implement the changes the prohibition commences 6 months after Royal Assent (12 June 2024). Background
