Legislation update December 2024

Australia’s Federal Parliament has finished sitting for 2024. Its final 2024 sittings were from 18 to 28 November when it passed 45 Bills. It is expected to resume on 4 February 2025 before a Commonwealth election which is due before May 2025.

An early pre-election budget is planned to be delivered on 25 March 2025.

Bills not passed before the election will lapse and will need to be re-introduced in the next Parliament together with Bills announced but not previously introduced.
