Financial Services Royal Commmission defers natural disaster insurance case studies

The Commissioner has announced that the natural disaster insurance case studies that were to be heard by the Financial Services Royal Commission in the latter part of this week, continuing in Darwin in the early part of next, are to be moved to a later hearing block.

It is proposed that the Commission should deal with those cases in the sixth block of hearings, which will take place in Melbourne in September. The sixth block will likely also consider other conduct of insurance companies, general and life, and their intermediaries.

According to Counsel Assisting they hope to finish most of the farming case studies this week. The bulk of next week will be filled with the cases relating to interactions between financial services entities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
