The Government has released a draft Regulation Impact Statement on options for extending the unfair contract terms laws to insurance as recommended by the Natural Disaster Insurance Review.

Insurance contracts are not currently covered by the unfair contracts terms provisions of the Australian Consumer Law or the ASIC Act, with some consumer protection provisions instead contained in the Insurance Contracts Act.
