Financial adviser registration date extended

ASIC has announced that it has extended the date for financial adviser registration to 1 February 2024 pending the passing of the Treasury Laws Amendment (2023 Measures No. 1) Bill 2023.

The Treasury Laws Amendment (2023 Measures No. 1) Bill 2023 contains several provisions in relation to how ASIC will administer the registration process. It also amends the Corporations Act to recognise the experience of existing financial advisers as equivalent to tertiary study.

UPDATE: On 16 November 2023, the Treasury Laws Amendment (2023 Measures No. 1) Bill 2023 passed both Houses of Parliament and has received Royal Assent.
