ASIC’s REP 767 ASIC enforcement and regulatory update: April to June 2023 details key enforcement and regulatory action taken by ASIC between April and June 2023 and provides an updated regulatory developments timetable for ASIC’s upcoming activities.
The report sets out ASIC’s activities in support of its key enforcement priorities including:
- enforcing product design and distribution obligations
- improvement in general insurers delivering pricing promises and insurance promises
- deterring greenwashing
- acting against unlawful conduct in credit
- protecting financially vulnerable consumers
- misconduct in the superannuation sector
- improving financial institutions’ approach to scams
- addressing unfair contract terms
- deterring financial adviser misconduct
- acting against breaches of directors’ duties
- misconduct that involves misinformation through social media.
The regulatory developments timetable includes reviewing and updating instruments regulating corporate finance, financial advisers, financial reporting and audit, investment managers, market intermediaries and infrastructure, registered liquidators and superannuation.
